One of my favorite meals was eaten at Maxie’s Supper Club in Ithaca, NY. First off, I just want to say that I have a mad crush on Ithaca. The place is amazing! The nature, the art, the history, the lifestyle, the music AND THE FOOD! Ithaca has some of the coolest cafes and bakeries. But a girl can’t live on coffee and cake — although sometimes I wish I could! I ended up eating at Maxie’s Supper Club one early Spring night with one of my best friends. My friends and I had been trying to make a day trip out to Ithaca for months, but at the time we lived out near Fort Drum, in Northern NY.So we wanted to make the trip worth the drive. We turned the trip into a two day weekend stay. When we got into Ithaca we were pretty beat. We had headed out pretty late and got into Ithaca a little later than planned. We were excited and hungry, but because we got in late we were afraid most places would be closed. Thankfully, the guy working the desk at our hotel knew of a great place to send us for food, and they were open late! He sent us to Maxie’s Supper Club. I was a little worried I wouldn’t like any of the food at this place because the full name of the place is called Maxie’s Supper Club and Oyster Bar. I wasn’t sure what that meant, but I knew I didn’t want oysters! BOY, AM I GLAD I HAD A SEMI OPEN MIND! I had the Chicken-Fried Chicken. The tasso gravy was to die for! I wanted it on everything! The food wasn’t the only thing that was amazing! There was live music and the service was fantastic. I was afraid that the staff would be a little irritated with our late arrival, and all of our questions about the food. They were far from irritated and loved helping us! In fact, they actually gave us a list of places to check out while we were in town. We fell in love with everything that place had to offer and we can’t wait to go back! I highly recommend this place!
